Simon Stevens, NHS England Chief Executive, said on the 4th August 2014:

“The NHS has made huge progress over the past decade in slashing long waits, so the median wait for patients having an operation is now under 10 weeks.

To lock-in that achievement – and go further in eliminating the longest waits – CCGs are now using earmarked extra funding to commission more elective surgery.

As a result CCGs expect their local hospitals to use the summer and early autumn to ensure they can then meet the performance standards which NHS patients are entitled to.”

IMED Hospitales is ready to assist the NHS CCGs in their endeavor to eliminate the longest wait for hip and knee replacement by offering an innovative patient pathway using enhanced recovery and improved capabilities (ERICA) immediate after surgery.

Employing cross-border care ERICA services for the NHS CCG patients IMED Hospitales can ensure that the longest waits for joint surgery can be reduced noticeably already in 2014 by provision of speedy extra capacity using evidence based innovative new ways of surgery and rehabilitation.
