IMED Hospitals Group in Spain has been awarded in the category “Best use of technology in medical tourism” at the gala IMTJ Medical Travel Awards 2016. According to the contest rules released by the organization, “the prize sought recognition of a company that has developed an innovative technology that allows management assistance and international patient benefit.” At the gala health centers, medical facilitators, consultants, spas, clinics and all kinds of companies related to the health tourism sector from all over the world were reunited.

Among the merits for which IMED has been awarded is for developing an environment that allows for the patient to have access to the history of tests and medical diagnosis from anywhere in the world safe and user-friendly through Internet. Additionally, this service allows medical staff all over the world to have access to results and reports of tests performed in IMED Hospitals, which improves the collaboration with other professionals. The strict enforcement of legislation on data protection of patients in all these technological developments has also been highlighted.

Another important point in obtaining this award has been the adaptation of online services for smartphones through an app available for the operating systems Android and Apple.

The head of the international program of IMED Hospitals, Yolanda Pickett, received the award and wanted to “thank this international recognition on behalf of all workers in the group.” Pickett stressed “IMED’s commitment to provide a first class service to all patients, from the medical point of view and everything surrounding this activity.”

Other winners of the night were the HCA Healthcare group UK in the category of cancer center, Diaverum Germany as the best dialysis center, the Burjeel Hospital Dubai as a reference center for medical tourism and Malaysia as the health tourism destination of the year.
